But Now No More

Defiant for the sake of taking a stand
Stubborn flashes of anger appear every day
Where has my son gone
Once all heart, but now no more

The illnesses have taken their toll
Each new day we look toward the dawn.
Once all heart, but now no more
Where has my son gone

Daily he tells me that he feels hate
With this unexpected life, he wants that moment to have his say
Where has my son gone
Once all heart, but now no more

Perhaps it is triggered by that which has not appeared again
Emotions lead to irrational conclusions drawn
Where has my son gone
Once all heart, but now no more

The Mirrored Refrain is rhyming verse which is formed by three or more quatrains where two lines within the quatrain are the “mirrored refrain” or alternating refrain.  The rhyme screen is:  xaBA, xbAB, xaBA, xbAB, etc.  The x in the rhyme screen represents the only lines that do not rhyme within the poem.  A and B represent the refrain.
